Obama's speech was frequently punctuated by applause and cheers from the crowd.
It was an odd and inappropriate event over people killed and maimed,
a woman with permanent brain injuries, all at the hands ofa mad man.
It is about Democratic politicians and their sycophants in the media.
Democratic Politicians were all over it.

Secretary of Homeland Security and former Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano, Brewer's predecessor as governor, read from the book of Isaiah, while Attorney General Eric Holder reads from the Second Letter of Paul to the Corinthians.
The crowd was dotted with other prominent Arizonans, including Sen. John McCain and retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.
Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Florida, and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-New York, said they were with the congresswoman when she opened her eyes for the first time since the shooting. This is an outright lie. Look at the date of this post at the Tucson Sentinel:

The bullet that plowed through the left side of US Rep. Gabrielle Giffords' skull from back to front Saturday morning left the congresswoman responsive but still in critical condition Sunday.
The surgeon who operated on Giffords for two hours Saturday, UMC neurosurgery chief G. Michael Lemole, Jr., MD, called the gunshot wound "very devastating" and warned that there is no way to predict how fully Giffords will recover. But he remains optimistic.
"We're all very happy at this stage," he said during a 10 a.m. news conference Sunday.
Giffords was able to respond to simple commands when she came to the emergency room shortly after 10:30 a.m. but couldn't speak and remains unable to.
"She did not say any words," said University Medical Center trauma chief Peter Rhee, MD
Giffords is in a drug-induced coma in intensive care. Doctors frequently awaken her to check her responsiveness, and she could open her eyes and respond to simple commands Sunday - an encouraging sign, said Rhee said.
Despite Giffords' ability to follow commands, "We know that brain swelling can take a turn, so we remain cautiously optimistic,” said Lemole.
He described simple commands as: "can you open your eyes," or "can you raise two fingers." Such simple tasks can tell doctors much about her condition, he said.
Giffords cannot speak because she is on a ventilator, and cannot see because of the area of her injury and the surgery requires her eyes be kept closed, the doctors said.
Napolitano and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi traveled with the Obamas.
There is no happy news with traumatic head injury, only less bad. Obama did not need to be there in front of 12-13,000 screaming fans.

I beg to differ simply because if you assassinate a politician it is polictical. Add to that the notion Rufus touts about the bearing of arms being necessary to keep the federal government at bay and it is very political.
as to the blog mechanics - I'm a big fan of word press. I have no idea how tough it would be to move a blog this size over however. I like the idea of 'regulars' getting to post above the fold if it is done with discretion and humility - this would provide regular content and limit the work Deuce need put in to keep it rolling but so to might the distinct voice of the blog be diffused - Ash above the fold - ohmigod but the more common problem would be a vocal poster would dominate. A traditional editor reviewing posts before publishing would be nice in this case but that would require work. In additon, though, the comment section needs to be opened up otherwise it'll devolve to a circle jerk...oops, pardon my language - a small circle of posters creating an echo chamber.

ReplyDeleteLoughner's final days at the college were marked by an incident on Sept. 23, when a biology instructor called college police at 7:31 a.m. According to an incident report, the instructor told police that Loughner disrupted the class "when she told him that he would only receive half credit on an assignment because it was late."
Loughner's protests grew louder, one officer wrote in his report, and Loughner said his freedom of speech was being taken away, though he had trouble verbalizing his distress.
Another officer said Loughner's head "tilted to the left with a confused look in the countenance of his face. His eyes focused down at his homework and he showed a sustained bobbing of the eyes while looking to his upper left side during questioning."
In a low, mumbling voice, Loughner, who appeared bewildered that police were involved, said that under the Constitution, he had the right to his "'freedom of thought,' and whatever he thought in his head he could also put on paper.
By placing his thoughts within his homework assignment, his teacher 'must be required to accept it' as a passing grade," according to campus police records.
On Sept. 29, campus police found a YouTube video in which Loughner proclaimed the college "a genocide school."
The title of the video, which has since been deleted, is "Pima Community College School-Genocide/Scam-Free Education-Broken United States Constitution." It was uploaded on Sept. 23 under the username "2PLOY," the same day officers interviewed Loughner after he disrupted his biology class, according to police records.
The video showed the college campus, and the narrator said:
"We are examining the torture of students … This is my genocide school. Where I'm going to be homeless because of this school … I haven't forgotten the teacher that gave me a B for freedom of speech … Thank you…. This is Jared … From Pima College."

Here's a simple suggestion. For the time being, if all ignored him within threads, and just went on with the conversation, an administrator can drop in later and do a quick search and delete down the thread. Expanding the authority to a few more that the owners trust could lighten the load on Deuce and Whit. I don't place myself in that short list because I'm not here consistently, nor do I expect or desire that responsibility. Melody comes to mind as a hall monitor. Deletions must be 100%.

Although Pima county has had reporting problems (the Sheriff is a remarkably sloppy administrator), the FBI has enough data to allow us to come to this conclusion:
The citizens of Pima County are up to their necks in crime, especially when compared to neighboring Maricopa County.
Thirty years of hyper-partisan Democrat-led law enforcement have resulted in the highest crime rates in Arizona.
The citizen who lives in Pima County, compared to media-reviled Joe Arpaio's territory just next door, will have almost
three times the chance of being murdered;
is more than seven times as likely to be raped;
is more than six times as likely to be assaulted;
and more than seven times as likely to have experienced a property crime such as burglary, arson or car theft.
Of course the Story of "o" makes charges, but cannot produce the particulars.

As I said in another thread, doug, the spotlight should be shining upon the Pima County Sheriff, not Mrs Palin, as the root cause of the shooter being on the street.
ReplyDeleteEspecially if those previous claims you posted as to the their previous encounters with complaints against him, and the Sheriff Departments' response to them turn out to be true.
I would say, though, that with the Sheriff being an elected position, the folks in Pima County are getting the level of service, from the Sheriff, that they knowingly voted for.

An interesting demographic note regarding the uber liberal Tucson population. In addition to the UofA influences, which are not to be discounted, is the interesting fact that the Old Pueblo is a mecca of sorts for a multitude of disenchanted easterners. There's a common narrative frequently encountered when conversing with these folks. "I came on a visit, and never went back." I've heard it from doctors wives, pizzaria proprietors, and bagel bakers. From the toney north and northeast Tucson neighborhoods to the gritty student enclaves surrounding the U of A, and down to the fringes of the wash south of broadway where the homeless retreat for the night.
It's always seemed they escaped from the east, only to bring some of it with them.
I've been well treated by the folks in Tucson, overall.

It should not be that complicated and in fact is not a problem for 95% of all blogs, mainly because they don't have any comments.

It would seem to me, that the shooter knew the difference between right and wrong.

A blonde went into a world wide message centre to send a message to her mother overseas.

The blonde did as she was told and followed the man.
" Come in and close the door" the man said.
She did.
He then said "Now get on your knees."
She did.
"Now take down my zipper."
She did.
"Now go ahead .. Take it out....." He said..
She reached in and grabbed it with both hands .
Then paused..
The man closed his eyes and whispered ..
"Well .... Go ahead."
The blonde slowly brought her mouth closer to it and while holding it close to her lips, .... tentatively said ....
"Hello. Mum, can you hear me?"

ReplyDeleteUnder the constitution, the President must consult with MPs and appoint a new premier to form a government. The prime minister is always a Sunni, and as Mr Hariri is the most most popular Sunni leader, he is likely to be reappointed.
The question is then whether he would accept.

ReplyDeleteThere seems to be a lot of puzzling going on about that comment I left up thread regarding the Content Warning. I regret that.
I was specifically vague there only because I didn't want to make any more references to Bob.
Consider the timing between when the decision was made to simply ban him and remove all his drivel, and when the Content Warning first appeared. Only a few hours had elapsed. A few hours is all I would expect it would take for blogger to flip a switch and label the EB. The Content Warning may have originated from anyone, but the simplest explanation, at least to me, is that it was another act of childish spite from someone we know is fully capable of that and worse.
