Government Terrorism under Bill Clinton?

Rush Limbaugh blames Oklahoma City bombing on former President Bill Clinton
April 19, 5:01 PMPolitical Buzz ExaminerRyan Witt

Rush Limbaugh went on offense over the Oklahoma City bombing.

Right or wrong, the Oklahoma City bombing has become something of a political football ever since the terrorist attack occurred. Every anniversary a debate emerges as to who was to blame for the attack, and how it could have been prevented.

Last week, former President Bill Clinton lightly brushed upon the subject in a speech before the Center for American Progress. Without specifically mentioning the Oklahoma City bombing, Clinton warned about the danger of right-wing rhetoric in possibly promoting violence. Clinton specifically mentioned Rush Limbaugh's more extreme rants against the Obama administration.

Today, Rush Limbaugh shot back by directly blaming President Clinton for the Oklahoma City bombing. In the video below Limbaugh cites the Waco and Ruby Ridge incidents as "tangible evidence' that Clinton helped to contribute to the Oklahoma City bombing. Under Limbaugh's reasoning Clinton is to blame because of how Waco and Ruby Ridge unfolded. Ironically, Limbaugh's rhetoric actually matches up with that of Timothy McVeigh who also claimed that Waco was the reason for the Oklahoma City bombing.

The real question is not whether Waco and Ruby Ridge served as inspiration for McVeigh in some way (most believe it certainly did), but rather whether Waco and Ruby Ridge serve as a justification for the bombing. Under Limbaugh's theory, McVeigh's actions are somehow excused because of what the government did at Waco.
The Waco raid certainly ended badly, but few doubt that the raid was legal.

Significant evidence existed showing that people within the Waco compound, most notably cult leader David Koresh, were engaged in sexual abuse against minors. They were also accused of illegally stockpiling weapons. The wisdom of how the raid was done and when it was done can be debated. but the government certainly had legal authority to enforce such laws.

And even if the Waco raid was illegal one must question how the raid would justify McVeigh's actions.

The women and children who died in Oklahoma City played absolutely no part in the decision to raid the Waco compound.

The blame for Oklahoma City lies first and foremost with the perpetrator of the crime. McVeigh plotted the crime and carried it through with devastating effectiveness. He was clearly a bit mentally disturbed before the attack, as evidenced by his belief that the army had implanted a chip in his buttocks to track his movements. McVeigh obviously had an anti-government mindset and that may or may not have been contributed to by right-wing talk at the time. Clinton seemed to address this notion with the proper caution by warning generally about the possibility of violence emerging from overly heated rhetoric. Limbaugh, on the other hand, seems to have adopted McVeigh's own justification for the bombing in trying to rebut Clinton's remarks.

  2. Departing planes frequently drowned out speakers, and reporters nearly outnumbered rally participants.

In Washington, signs reading "Which part of 'shall not be infringed' confuses you?" and bright orange stickers saying "Guns save lives" dotted the crowd at the Washington Monument.

Organizer Skip Coryell said he chose the date to mark the anniversary of the Revolutionary War battles of Lexington and Concord, and dismissed any associations with the actions of Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh. The bombing occurred on April 19, 1995.

  3. If the Davidians weren't crazy before the seize they certainly sounded like it by the end.

What disturbs me is the tendency of the left to demonize the right. It happened under Clinton and it seems to be happening again. The left is afraid of gun owning Americans. This fear leads them to demand action from the Feds. The Feds crackdown on the far right (the skindheads, neoNazis, survivalists, etc.) The liberal politicians go after guns and try to infringe on the right to bear arms. Under Clinton and Reno, this situation escalated to a series of incidents culminating in Oklahoma City.

I would hate to see the cycle of violence repeat itself again. The left need to cool their jets and drop the rhetoric.

  5. Funny how the focus changes depending on the view from the White House and Justice Department:

From two years ago - FBI: Eco-Terrorism Remains No. 1 Domestic Terror Threat

A few years ago, the fascination was with Church Fires

Another boogey man for the Clinton Administration was gun shows and of course the Dem favorite - Gun control lead to Waco, Ruby Ridge and possibly Oklahoma City.

The US military, which allen has claimed is the ultimate authority on divining motive in attacks upon Americans, has not confirmed allen's charges of Islamic motivation. Indeed, they seem to have denied it.

Now politicos whose primary attribute, being Friends of Israel, are wasting Federal assets in an attempt to enhance the politicization Maj Hasan's religion and subsequent mental breakdown.

Which was stressed induced, as have been the other incidents of "Going Postal".

Unless there is more evidence available, evidence that the US military has not already seen.

Or if the US military justice is confirmed to be influenced, by DC politcos.

As was the case in the results of the investigation into the attack upon the USS Liberty.

  19. From Balloon Juice:

Some economists at the University of Chicago have tried to answer the question of whether the Internet allows people to isolate themselves in an echo chamber. They’ve come up with an “isolation index”. The higher the index, the more isolation. Here are the media numbers:

The isolation index we estimate for the Internet is higher than that of broadcast television (1.8), magazines (2.9), cable television (3.3), and local newspapers (4.1), and lower than that of national newspapers (10.4). We estimate that eliminating the Internet would reduce the ideological segregation of news and opinion consumption across all media from 4.9 to 3.8.

    But then there’s this:

It is significantly lower than the segregation of actual networks formed through voluntary associations (14.5), work (16.8), neighborhoods (18.7), or family (24.3). The Internet is also far less segregated than networks of trusted friends (30.3).

The conclusion is clear: if you want to be “open minded”, stay the hell away from friends and family.

This happens not to be the case with my own friends and family, who run the gamut.

But after years of beating people about the head and shoulders with Ayn Rand - and in other ways being an obnoxious doctrinaire - I discovered a fondness for gentle disagreement and, better yet, the natural desire of others to be patiently, indulgently listened to, with the hidden, happy agenda of discovering common ground as mere mortals.

Hard to believe, perhaps, but true.

You must have me confused with one of the voices, again. Allen has made no such claim. Adjust your medication accordingly.

The problem is that you cannot defend your position without appearing to simultaneously support an Islamic warrior. I use "warrior" in the same sense as Major Hasan when he vociferously gunned down his unarmed victims as part of the global jihad.

As to "evidence", at the moment there is none of a jurisprudential nature. There are, however, reams of reports and statements made by Major Hasan's peers and colleagues to media and members of Congress. Some number of these will rise to the level of evidence once Major Hasan comes to trial.

Despite your personal needs, Major Hasan was not having a bad hair day when he went on his killing rampage. He was following through on previously articulated sentiments about which he had been clear for some time. In short, Major Hasan committed premeditated murder in the interest of Islam's ongoing jihad against "earthquake" whores and the West generally.

    Islam is the problem.

  32. Joseph Stalin's CCCP was an Allied force during WWII. Immediately following the war, the CCCP established "republics" in Eastern Europe and across the globe, leading to the Cold War.

When in war, you make friends as you must and afterward dump them as you will. Such was the case with the CCCP and such will be the case with others we have recently "befriended".

Oh, and a feeling is not a thought and an opinion is not a fact.

It is such a relief to know you are giving me no thought. :)

As an aside, today there will be reports from across the globe of innocents being killed and maimed by gentlemen jihadists. These jihadists have been given the green light by highly respected Muslim religious authorities, some of whom have or will visit the White House.

On the other hand, it will be a rare day indeed when a "Christian" commits an atrocity with the blessing or approval of a highly regarded Christian religious authority. In fact, I cannot recall a Pope, for example, condoning violent religious expression in several centuries, at least.

If you will take a minute or two to ponder this dichotomy, you will instantly see the difference and why Islam is the problem.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Islam is the problem because elements of Islam makes itself the problem.

Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Egypt, Syria and Afghanistan all recognized that problem, at one time or another, and established secular but Islamic states. They clamped down on the crazies and made secularsim the law.

This move to secularism has waxed and waned over time and is changing in one direction in Iraq and Iran and another in Turkey. Pakistan is trying to restrain militant Islam.

Chritianity resolved that issue and is no longer a threat to secular states or for that matter is threatened by secular states. Most churches are mostly empty most of the time.

'Sinful' city buses stoned by ultra-Orthodox Jews

    ...

The latest battle is over demands that buses segregate men and women in accordance with strict Jewish law on a line connecting the ultra-Orthodox stronghold of Mea Shearim in Jerusalem with the Western Wall. In the view of some ultra-Orthodox Jews, segregated seating, with women entering separately through the rear door and sitting at the back, is vital to uphold their stringent traditions stipulating modesty and prohibiting physical contact with members of the opposite sex.

    ...

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/sinful-city-buses-stoned-by-ultraorthodox-jews-1631370.html

    Exhibit C

On Wednesday morning, Podeh - bare-legged and wearing a short-sleeved dress cut above the knee - parked a block from the Education Ministry on the edge of the Mea Shearim neighborhood.

When she returned at noon, her car's tires had been slashed and its roof and doors coated with a sticky film of smashed eggs.

A flier taped to a nearby stone wall read "Parking in immodest dress is forbidden."

Police have recorded half a dozen such attacks in recent weeks, including several in which ultra-Orthodox Jews threw stones and spit at women. Earlier this week, an ultra-Orthodox man was arrested for throwing a rock at a police decoy wearing a short summer dress. "

Now, Ash, behold the magic of rationality: The man was [ARRESTED]. Had this occurred in say, Gaza, the man would have been decorated as a knight and hero of the faith.

Crazies will always be with us, as you exemplify. However, no religious or secular court in Israel is going to tolerate the abuse of others as the matter of policy.

Oh, and Ash, we do not hang, torture or shoot women (or men for that matter) for the expression of religious or secular points of view, say, fashion, for example. Your little Muslim friends in the "Levant" will be doing that today as every day.

It is for those, such as you, that our law incorporates the prohibition of punishment exceeding the nature of the crime. That is, Ash, "an eye for an eye". No Israeli woman or girl is ever going to be hanged for sunning her bare breasts at the beach, although she may have to pay a small fine for the privilege (A burden that thousands of men like me will gladly assume for the sake of...).

  41. What makes the "Christianity" of those at Waco newsworthy, apart from the government's wholesale killing, was its exceptionalism. No Christian religious authority, such a the Rev. Billy Graham, supported the behaviors of this exceptional sect. Indeed, many religious spokesmen, at the time prior to the slaughter of the innocents, condemned the government's inaction in the face of blatant provocation.

There is nothing exceptional about Major Hasan's violence, as a Muslim, other than his rank and profession within the USA. All day, every day, the Major Hasan's of the faith are busy, busy, busy. For their assiduous, brutal service, they are honored by the religious heirarchy of Islam.

  42. As of last year, the top four sources of imported oil into the US were Canada, Mexico, Venezuela & Saudi Arabia (CMVSA). Their combined net oil exports were 14.1 mbpd in 2005 and 12.4 mbpd in 2008 (EIA), down 1.7 mbpd (12%) in only three years. Three of the four showed net export declines in 2008, relative to 2005 (all but Canada), and three of the four showed year over year net export declines in 2008 (all but Saudi Arabia).

In 2005, US net oil imports were 12.5 mbpd, and Chinese net oil imports were 2.9 mbpd.

In 2008, US net oil imports were 11.0 mbpd, and Chinese net oil imports were 3.9 mbpd.

US annual oil prices went from $57 in 2005 to $100 in 2008.

China's net imports, expressed as a percentage of CMVSA's net oil exports, were at 21% in 2005, and at 31% in 2008.

From 2005 to 2008, Chinese net imports grew at 10%/year (which is less than the US rate of increase in net oil imports from 1949 to 1977). At a 10%/year rate of increase, Chinese net imports in 2018 would be 10.6 mbpd.

If we assume that CMVSA's combined net oil export decline will be about 500,000 bpd per year (less than the observed 2005-2008 annual volumetric decline of 567,000 bpd per year), their combined net exports would be down to 7.4 mbpd in 2018.

  57. Common sense tells us that every nation has the right to secure its borders. Mexico, for example, does so quite aggressively. Mass migrations are nothing new. In previous eras, they were generally conducted all at once, with brightly-colored banners fluttering proudly overhead. The receiving country would send a few thousand lads to meet the new occupants at the border, carrying banners of their own, and a lively exchange of cutlery would ensue. Territorial integrity is a serious concern for any nation. Even the most restrained and minimal government requires its citizens to accept the social contract, and recognize its authority. It’s no coincidence that waves of illegal immigration raise a dusty cloud of general lawlessness in their wake.

I know this is a tough concept for you allen but we seem to be having trouble getting it through your thick skull that individual acts don't necessarily apply to the whole group or we can similarly malign all jews for the acts of some of the orthodox, or generalize that all Catholics like to bugger little boys because some in the priesthood do.

  66. Ash,

You silly little man: you do malign Jews at every opportunity. It must be very frustrating, though, never to be able to report acts of rape, murder, and torture supported by Rabbinic authority.

  67. Ash, ISLAM is supportive of acts against Jews.

The organized group of leaders that run the world wide web of Islamic though, banks, control and governments MEET and agree to harm Jews...

Just look at the last few Organisation of the Islamic Conferences....

    Antisemitism
The OIC attracted attention at the opening session of the meeting in Putrajaya, Malaysia, on 16 October 2003, where Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad of Malaysia in his speech argued that the Jews control the world: "They invented socialism, communism, human rights and democracy, so that persecuting them would appear to be wrong, so that they can enjoy equal rights with others. With these they have gained control of the most powerful countries and they, this tiny community, have become a world power”. He also said that “The Europeans killed six million Jews out of 12 million, but today the Jews rule the world by proxy. They get others to fight and die for them”.[18][19]
The speech was very well received by the delegates, including many high ranking politicians, who responded with standing ovations".[20][21][22] International, non-Muslim reactions, however, were appalled. "We view them with contempt and derision," said the US State Department, and the foreign minister of Italy, the current chair of the European Union, called the incident "gravely offensive". However, Malaysian officials later argued that what Dr Mahathir had been trying to say, was that despite having been a marginal and persecuted community the Jews have survived - by use of brains not brawn. The former prime minister said this in relation to the decline of Muslim knowledge in the 20th Century.[21]

    The record is clear ash....

Islam is an ORGANIZED powerful group that as a GROUP embraces Jew hatred and violence...

    Dont agree?

Your opinion on this subject is meaningless...

  68. Which do you think is more effective, allen, in the art of persuasion? Unctuous condescension, sneering contempt, or savage abruptness? (We'll leave out masturbatory malice because it's not really an approach per se, is it? Rather a form of self-amusement, as Rat will attest.)

    I'm conducting a survey.

  69. By the by, I expect everyone to put on their party hats and ready their cake forks tomorrow because it's ODNI's fifth anniversary.

Yes, it has survived this long.

Look at it this way, kids: It gets you out of class.

Islam has many voices and they often contradict each other.

  73. Here's some heartwarming news:

Trish's son was the victim of a crime over the weekend. The young man is fine, but the theft was/is a serious matter for any number of reasons.

Well, there is a relatively unassuming Miracle Worker at the US Embassy who promptly and graciously took care of him in our stead.

The Lord reserves a place for those who quietly make things happen. (Especially those who also retain a weekend fondness for Southern Comfort.)

  74. For you DR:

    I remember when,
    I remember,
I remember when I lost my mind
There was something so pleasant about that place.
Even your emotions had an echo
    In so much space

    And when you're out there
    Without care,
Yeah, I was out of touch
But it wasn't because I didn't know enough
    I just knew too much

    Does that make me crazy?
    Does that make me crazy?
    Does that make me crazy?
    Probably

And I hope that you are having the time of your life
But think twice, that's my only advice

    Come on now,
who do you, who do you,
who do you, who do you think you are,
Ha ha ha bless your soul
You really think you're in control

    Well, I think you're crazy
    I think you're crazy
    I think you're crazy
    Just like me

My heroes had the heart to lose their lives out on a limb
And all I remember is thinking, I want to be like them
    Ever since I was little,
    ever since I was little
    it looked like fun
And it's no coincidence I've come
And I can die when I'm done

    Maybe I'm crazy
    Maybe you're crazy
    Maybe we're crazy
    Probably

    Uh, uh

    Ash,
My people have been at the butt end of Islam since our bastard step brothers "invented it" and trust me, it sucks...

No matter what excuses you make for it...

Islam has never been nice, it always has been a pain in the ass

  76. "This case shows that it's still about making money illegally, by whatever means," FBI Special Agent-in-Charge George Venizelos said. "No crime seemed too depraved to be exploited if it was a money-maker, including the sexual exploitation of a 15-year-old."

According to the U.S. attorney's office, the fourteen defendants are Marino, Modica, Thomas Orefice, Dominick DiFiore, Anthony Manzella, Michael Scotto, Michael Scarpaci, Thomas Scarpaci, David Eisler, Salvatore Borgia, Steve Maiurro, Keith Dellitalia, Suzanne Porcelli and Anthony Vecchione.

Maiurro remains at large. The 13 arrested defendants are expected to appear in court Wednesday.

Many North Americans get a false sense of security in Latin America. The sad fact is that the jackals seek them out.

I hope the young man is OK and learned a lesson if one applies.
