Can Obama be so disengaged that he let Eric Holder do his own thing?

This is an exciting and new idea I'd never heard of before.

  2. That's from Allen, back a thread or two.

  3. I find it interesting that no one is commenting on how Barack Obama and the Democratic Congress are probably going to inadvertently destroy the social welfare state that they are seeking to enlarge and extend. When Reagan tried to strangle the Federal government in debt, the liberals howled with outrage. But they are now running up a debt so huge that rather than finishing the work of FDR and LBJ they will likely bring on the collapse of medicare, social security and medicaid. The math and actuarial data seem plain as day to me, but they are so intoxicated by the victory almost won that they can’t see it. Like Hitler pushing to the Volga-blocks away from the final hard fought victory at Stalingrad- and missing the trap being laid for the 6th army by Zhukev’s massed armies.

  4. Something to consider is the view that some of the work was done by children - bright lads and, like bob, unencumbered by all the blinding cultural noise of modernity.

There is an excellent and well stated statement, well done.

  5. Children and art--I have in my files 'Cats in Black and White'
done by my daughter, when she was bout five.

They are so gracefull, when they are that age, so able to just 'knock it off' with ease.

  6. What's the difference between Pee-wee Herman and Khalid Sheik Mohammad?

It's only going to take twelve jerks to get KSM off

  9. Obama does delegate and leave the results to the delegated. His Afpakistan work exemplifies that.

He could have easily left it to Holder, to decide what to do with the detainees.

Obama does not micro-manage his personnel, that seems more than evident.

  10. Bobal, I got Miss Fely excited about a Yellowstone trip next year, but she'd want to fly straight to Bozeman. I could make West Yellowstone in one long ass day from here, but I'm a tough cookie. One time I went to Denver in 26 hours from Portland, but when I took Miss F there, we had to stop overnight in Nampa and Laramie so's not to overtax her constitution.

  11. You couldn't make this stuff up.

Maybe I've gone senile. This is the first time in my life that I feel completely incapable of understanding "anything" about my government. It's like it's been taken over by a troupe from "the theatre of the absurd."

It seems much more likely that I have gone insane than that our entire government has gone insane. And, damned if it doesn't seem like a "one or the other" choice.

Well, it's been good knowin ya, troopers. I'm sure the guys in the white jackets will be here with their butterfly nets any time, now. Chaio.

  12. The boy fell in love with his own image and Air Force One. He is intoxicated with the power but fearful of the controls and has surrounded himself with those who are not. He is not charmed as much at being a CEO as much as being Chairman of the Board.

  13. Those around him sense Obama's weaknesses and fill in the gaps. Holder responded.

You know, I have never felt so detached from politics in my adult life. Never.

And I am too content to wonder why that is.

  15. Would I ever again buy anything from the Republican Party?

    Fuck no.

    Do I like the Democrats?

Only to the extent that they can write like James Wolcott.
