Where Is the US Department of Justice on Voting Fraud?

Listen to the brother

We sent three armies to Iraq to bring democracy to the Middle East. We raid chicken factories looking for Mexicans and we pull blue haired white lady octogenarians out of airport lines searching for contraband, but we do not have a president with a testosterone level high enough to investigate and prosecute an overwhelmingly radical left wing black criminal organization determined to undermine the integrity of US elections.

I seem to recall the white outrage when black voters were turned away from voting polls in the South because they could not pass a literacy test. Today we have black felons corrupting an election and the US is afraid to take them on because they are black. There is no other explanation. If Acorn were a white Republican group the response would be predictable, immediate and applauded by the press. Not so with Acorn.

The American government, press and public, overwhelmingly white, has been reduced to a hushed whimper. Fear of the truth is pathetic and whatever the consequences, it will be deserved if the level of outrage is a dribble.

  1. This year there have been several accusations of fraud against ACORN. Over a dozen states are investigating the organization already. Here is a complete list of the ongoing investigations:

North Carolina — State Board of Elections officials have found at least 100 voter registration forms with the same names over and over again. The forms were turned in by ACORN. Officials sent about 30 applications to the state Board of Elections for possible fraud investigation.

Ohio — The New York Post reported that a Cleveland man said he was given cash and cigarettes by aggressive ACORN activists in exchange for registering an astonishing 72 times. The complaints have sparked an investigation by election officials into the organization, whose political wing has supported Barack Obama. Witnesses have already been subpoenaed to testify against the organization.

Nevada — Authorities raided the headquarters of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now on Tuesday October 7, 2008, after a month-long investigation. The fraudulent voter registrations included the Dallas Cowboys starting line-up.

Indiana — More than 2,000 voter registration forms filed in northern Indiana’s Lake County filled out by ACORN employees turned out to be bogus. Officials also stopped processing a stack of about 5,000 applications delivered just before the October 6 registration deadline after the first 2,100 turned out to be phony.

Connecticut — Officials are looking into a complaint alleging ACORN submitted fraudulent voter registration cards in Bridgeport. In one instance, an official said a card was filled out for a 7-year-old girl, whose age was listed as 27. 8,000 cards were submitted in Bridgeport.

Missouri — The Kansas City election board is reporting 100 duplicate applications and 280 with fake information. Acorn officials agreed that at least 4% of their registrations were bogus. Governor Matt Blunt condemned the attempts by ACORN to commit voter fraud.

Pennsylvania — Officials are investigating suspicious or incomplete registration forms submitted by ACORN. 252,595 voter registrations were submitted in Philadelphia. Remarkably, 57,435 were rejected — most of them submitted by ACORN.

Wisconsin — In Milwaukee ACORN improperly used felons as registration workers. Additionally, its workers are among 49 cases of bad registrations sent to authorities for possible charges, as first reported by the Journal Sentinel.

Florida — The Pinellas County Elections supervisor says his office has received around 35 voter registrations that appear to be bogus. There is also a question of 30,000 felons who are registered illegally to vote. Their connections with ACORN are not yet clear.

Texas — Of the 30,000 registration cards ACORN turned in, Harris County tax assessor Paul Bettencourt says just more than 20,000 are valid. And just look at some of the places ACORN was finding those voters. A church just next door is the address for around 150 people. More than 250 people claim a homeless outreach center as their home address. Some listed a county mental health facility as their home and one person even wrote down the Harris County jail at the sheriff’s office.

Michigan — ACORN in Detroit is being investigated after several municipal clerks reported fraudulent and duplicate voter registration applications coming through. The clerk interviewed said the fraud appears to be widespread.

New Mexico – The Bernalillo County clerk has notified prosecutors that some 1,100 fraudulent voter registration cards were turned in by ACORN.

That’s not all. So far this year at least 14 states have started investigations against ACORN. Talk about a culture of corruption. It is so bad that Representatives of Congress have asked for the Justice Department to investigate, and GOP presidential candidate John McCain is bringing it up in his stump speeches. The Obama camp is stealthily altering its “Fight the Smears” website to distance themselves from the organization — quite a challenge considering how close their candidate’s association has been with the group.

  2. What would Obama do?

He'd mandate open voting in union affairs. When certified he'd have the unions funnel money to the democratic party.

You have got to be shitting me.

In Philadelphia, the City, controlled by the Democrats, does not even identify how many Minority Party Inspector positions are vacant in 1,681 election precincts.

In 1,034, 61.5% of election precincts there are NO Republican committee persons at all.

There is no GOP presence whatsoever in 13% of the City’s 66 wards (which usually comprises from 25 to 50 precincts). Philadelphia steals one election after another in Pennsylvania.

I doubt Philadelphia is an exception and as far as the lightning metaphor please spare us such nonsense

  4. Block captains, in Philadelphia, are given what is referred to as "walking around money." City union workers, labor unions, teachers unions pick people up from their homes and pay them to go to the polling area. they take them into the booth to instruct them on how to use the machine.

The courts, judges and district attorneys are all Democrats and they will harass any Republican that shows up at a polling area.

If the street captains are slow and get the voters to the polls late, a Philadelphia judge will order the overwhelmingly Democratic ward polling place to stay open longer. We are not talking about a handful of anything. We are talking about tens of thousands of illegal votes.

Philadelphia and the Democratic machine dictate the voting of Pennsylvania. Philadelphia is a sick parody of American democracy at its worse.

  6. Calvin's revised version of the Eucharist enacted the battle with sin and the proper training of the senses. He adopted Bucer's Eucharist in most respects, including the community's spiritual elevation to the risen, heavenly Christ. However, he dispensed with the prayers of intercession and thanksgiving prior to the meal and substituted an exhortation that was a "fencing of the table":

We have heard, bretheren, how our Lord celebrated his Supper with his disciples, thereby indicating that strangers, and those who are not of the company of the faithful, ought not to be admitted. Therefore, in accordance with this rule, in the name and by the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ, I excommunicate all idolaters, blasphemers, despisers of God, heretics, and all who form private sects to break the unity of the church, all perjurers, all who rebel against parents or their superiors, all who are seditious, mutinous, quarrelsome or brutal, all adulterers, fornicators, thieves, ravishers, misers, drunkards, gluttons, and all who lead a scandalous and dissolute life. I declare that they must abstain from the holy table, for fear of defiling and contaminating the holy food which our Lord Jesus Christ gives only to his household of believers.

    from Saving Paradise
    -------
And the holy table must have been empty in Geneva, even of Calvin himself.

And this in the name of the sinners friend, who was acccused of hanging out with prostitutes and tax collectors.

  7. Actually, I see nothing wrong with a felon voting as long as he's paid his debt to society. He/she is still an American Citizen. In my mind, at least.

Folks, the sad truth is you can't let any one party stay in power too long. Power Corrupts.

The party of the poor cheats. The party of the poor HAS to cheat. It doesn't have enough money to Not cheat. If you keep the party of the poor beat down long enough you end up with Mexico, and another Great Depression.

Relax, folks; think about the Carter years. As bad as they were, I'll betcha you made money. We survived Johnson, Nixon, Ford, and Jimmah. We'll survive this knucklehead, regardless of "which" knucklehead it is.

  10. In October 2002, then-Attorney General John Ashcroft launched an intensive "Ballot Access and Voting Integrity Initiative" that required all U.S. attorney offices to coordinate with local officials in combating voter fraud. Yet even after the Justice Department declared the war against voter fraud a "high priority," only 24 people were convicted of illegal voting in federal elections between 2002 and 2005 -- and nobody was even charged by Justice with impersonating another voter. (The Justice Department declined to answer questions about more recent fraud prosecutions.) And despite the anti-immigrant frenzy fueling photo-ID laws, only 14 noncitizens were convicted of illegally voting in federal elections from 2002 through 2005 -- mostly because of their ignorance of election law.

So let US compare the policing of elections to other police priorities

In 2006, 43.9 percent of the 1,889,810 total arrests for drug abuse violations were for marijuana -- a total of 829,627. Of those, 738,916 people were arrested for marijuana possession alone.

There are your Federal Justice Department and State Law enforcement priorities, in a nutshell.

It's hard to know how much voter fraud there was in the past.
Fact is though, it does seem to be more of a problem in the 'liberal' areas, the big cities. We've never had much or any problem that I know of here, it's never an issue. While deuce says it's normal life in Philly, which I can believe.

  15. CNN has been running the ACORN story for at least a few hours already and the gist of it seems to be that ACORN employees hired to register voters work on a commission basis and there is therefor incentive to be...inventive. Six such employees were in the past charged with and convicted of such registration fraud and ACORN was warned that in future, it could be held criminally liable for the actions of its employees in re voter registration.

But there seems to be some confusion as to the distinction between registration fraud and voter fraud - the latter a far more difficult proposition.

Following the 2000 election and leading into the 2004, moonbats (as handily distinguished by ash from wingnuts) had only to whisper, "Diebold." Meaning the fix was in. A cottage industry of conspiracy sprang up, boasting endless documentation of stolen elections by frothy weirdos. And evil Rovian voter suppression, that was popular as well.

I've for ATM type voting machines, with a personal record for yourself, and a paper trail for the state, but not showing how anyone voted, and throw in purple fingers for the fun of it. And photo ID registration. That should about do it.

  24. Let me number the ways. The biggest scam is registering the same voter in ten to fifteen different addresses mostly vacant lots or multiple people in the same address under different names. fast Eddy Rendell would not pas a bill requiring a photo ID. Here is a little example of what goes on in Philadelphia by Acorn, a group that is 95% black and 5% Trotsky white:

""I am not confident we can get a fair election" on Nov. 4, said Newman, a Republican from Montgomery County who retired from the court in 2006.

Obama campaign spokeswoman Allison Price said Obama "is committed to making sure all voters can participate in this election. Anyone violating election law should be held accountable. This is another tactic the Republicans are using to detract voters from real issues."

Charles Jackson, a spokesman for ACORN, said the organization has "aggressive procedures in place" to identify questionable forms and calls them to the attention of authorities when they find them.

Newman appeared at a news conference with Pennsylvania GOP Chairman Rob Gleason and Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico.

Gleason, citing "the potential of massive voter fraud" nationwide, said ACORN and other groups had submitted 252,595 voter registrations in Philadelphia. There were 57,435 registrations rejected -- most of them submitted by ACORN, Gleason said. They had faulty Social Security numbers, incorrect dates of birth, "clearly fraudulent" signatures, addresses that did not exist and duplicate registrations, Gleason said. A man was registered to vote 15 times since the primary, according to Gleason, and some people listed vacant lots as their addresses."

  25. "What makes a United States citizen invisible? What makes a community invisible? The answer: felon disenfranchisement laws. The laws prohibit ex-felons from exercising certain enumerated rights or allow a felony conviction to be used to terminate legally recognized relationships. Felon disenfranchisement laws are post-conviction, state statutory restrictions that are neither uniform nor universal, but vary from state to state. In The Collateral Consequences of a Felony Conviction: A National Study of State Legal Codes 10 Years Later, Kathleen Olivares et al. surveyed the fifty-one United States jurisdictions, and found that a felony conviction has consequences for the following nine rights or areas of life: the right to vote, parenting, public employment, divorce, serving on a jury, holding public office, firearm ownership, criminal registration, and civil death. While civil death is no longer applied, all of the other consequences of a felony conviction operate in some form or another depending upon the state in which the ex-felon resides. Although ex-felons are denied many different rights, the laws deny that right which has been deemed in both the academic literature and the popular media as quintessential to citizenship —
    the right to vote ."

    ==

    Wiki:

In physics, the zero-point energy is the lowest possible energy that a quantum mechanical physical system may possess and is the energy of the ground state of the system. The quantum mechanical system that encapsulates this energy is the zero-point field. The concept was first proposed by Albert Einstein and Otto Stern in 1913. The term "zero-point energy" is a calque of the German Nullpunktenergie. All quantum mechanical systems have a zero point energy. The term arises commonly in reference to the ground state of the quantum harmonic oscillator and its null oscillations.

In quantum field theory, it is a synonym for the vacuum energy, an amount of energy associated with the vacuum of empty space. In cosmology, the vacuum energy is taken to be the origin of the cosmological constant which is thought by many to produce dark energy. Experimentally, the zero-point energy of the vacuum leads directly to the Casimir effect, and is directly observable in nanoscale devices.

    By JEANNE CUMMINGS
In the first three weeks of September, Barack Obama ran 1,342 television commercials in the Washington media market that reaches heavily populated and contested Northern Virginia.

According to The Nielsen Company, in the same period and market, John McCain aired just eight commercials on broadcast stations.

Similar disparities are playing out across the country as the Illinois Democrat flexes his financial muscle to outspend McCain and the Republican National Committee on television advertisements, in some cases by ratios of as much as 8-to-1.

As of close of business last week, Obama had spent approximately $195 million on primary and general election ads compared with $99 million by the Arizona Republican and the Republican National Committee, according to the Competitive Media Analysis Group.

Obama is buying the White house, not stealing it. He knew what was really important, in an US election.
    Money to spread the message.

  61. Obama is becoming the Ross Perot of this election

Obama is trying to BUY the election and can barely show as slightly ahead of McCain

My thought? When the voters get in the booth Obama will lose.

Obama has too much radical baggage....

we have weeks before the election and the news cycle of issues is about 3 days...

    economy? old news... move on

most americans cant remember what they ate yesterday for lunch.......

obama will keep spending on ads and nothing will make a difference

    art of war....

    timing...

4th quarter, down by 4.... 2 minutes to go...

hit obama with something he cant respond to...

  63. "The demise of retards?"

Cleverly (or not so cleverly) avoids the point. Easy as it may be to pose over the Internet, we both know you won't be laughing a few years hence, to put it lightly (and probably aren't right now).

Will I be tearing my hair out and banging my head against the wall as I have for most of the last eight years? (Actually, it's been twelve or thirteen, but we'll keep it simple.) Will I be choking on anger and frustration as I have now for the better part of a decade? Tell me what "we both know" about the monstrous stupidity, venality, and recklessness with which the New American Century opened, then "we" can discuss your frowning, brow-creased vision of "a few years hence." Over a couple of frosty glasses of pique and presumption, perhaps.

In Santiago. Which I hear is quite beautiful.

    The "Ruh Roh" Caucus

Michael Gerson recapitulates one of the excuses for the meltdown of the McCain campaign floating around conservative circles:

The diverging political fortunes of Barack Obama and McCain can be traced to a single moment. In the middle of September, the net favorable rating for each candidate was about the same. By Oct. 7, Obama was ahead on this measure by about 16 points. Did McCain suddenly become a stumbling failure? No, the world suddenly went into an economic slide. Americans blamed the party with executive power, which is also the party most closely tied in the public mind to bankers and Wall Street. None of this was fair to McCain, who has never been the Wall Street type. But party images are vivid, durable and almost impossible to shift on short notice.

Previous to this economic free fall — and after his transformative vice-presidential choice — McCain was about tied in a race he should have been losing by a large margin. The public clearly had questions about Obama’s leadership qualities. But the McCain campaign also proved itself capable of constructing an effective narrative: Obama as lightweight celebrity, McCain as maverick reformer. Until history intervened.

What it translates to is, John McCain was doing pretty well at making the campaign about image, but then something serious happened. And faced with a genuine crisis, the public decided it would rather have the black guy with the funny name dealing with it than the war-hero senator it had known and liked for decades. How on Earth does this count as an excuse? "We’d have gotten away with it, too, if not for that meddling economy!" Leave aside whether either candidate can actually master economic events. As Gene Healy argues, people and politicos have outsized conceptions of the president’s role in our national life. And the moment when the question of "Who do we want to deal with this mess?" became bigger rather than smaller is the moment Barack ("Hussein!") Obama pulled away from Captain John Sidney McCain, USN (Ret.). That’s the measure of McCain’s and the Republicans’ failure, not any exculpation.
