COLLECTIVE MADNESS

“Soft despotism is a term coined by Alexis de Tocqueville describing the state into which a country overrun by "a network of small complicated rules" might degrade. Soft despotism is different from despotism (also called 'hard despotism') in the sense that it is not obvious to the people."

Rudy - "Being an illegal immigrant is not a crime."

"Crossing the border is misdemeanor. Being an illegal immigrant is not a crime. Congress tried to make it a crime...It shouldn't be a crime." Rudy Guiliani. Sep 13, 2007, Hugh Hewitt Show.

  1. Technically, Rudy is right.

The correct answer to chants of "enforce the law", is Rudy's.

Wish to change the Law, acknowledge what it really is, first.

In DC, it's all about process.

  2. It should be noted that he went on to say that with 12 million illegals in the country, it is unrealistic to expect law enforcement to deal with such an intractable problem. The solution he says, is stop them at the border. That sounds good but...

  3. Secure the border, first.

Let the rest shake out, as it will.

It is border security that is the real issue, not immigration.

The two issues are not the same.

The is a majority FOR Border Security, no consensus on the 20 million migrants, so do what one can, when one can, to move the ball.
The Socialist State was built incrementally, so will it's replacement. Incremental change does not disrupt the Status Que.
