Drudge said unhinged. You have to see this on FOX. Clinton almost lost it. He was hanging over Chris Wallace, jabbing his finder, eyes blazing, a rat-ta-tat barrage of words and accusations. FOX should have done a split screen showing heart beats and blood pressure. Wallace was cool, Clinton not. I can only imagine what it was like working for the man. See Whit's earlier post .
Clinton Wags the Finger at Chris Wallace
Clinton's gonna sue. He said to his lawyer:
ReplyDelete"Go out there and win one for the zipper!"
But seriously, kudos to Bill for keeping several news cycles all about 9/11 in the run up to November.
On the night of their first victory,on a stage at a Washington rally with Fleetwooed Mac in the background playing "Don't Stop, Thinking About Tomorrow",
ReplyDeleteI noticed an expression Hillary flashed to Bill.
It was an expression that said to me, "Do you believe we did it?"
Together they had Slick Willie, backed by a Lady Macbeth taken the reins of power.
Glib, smart, and daring to "get caught" we had a pair in the White House with enough psychosis' to challenge the psychiatric profile of Charles Manson.
We are still paying the price for Bill, Hillary, and Jimmy the C.
Habu1,
ReplyDeleteThanks for recollectin' that "Colours" moment. At that same time, we had "read my lips" on our side from a guy we thought was really smart and honest, and obviously dedicated, who apparently didn't quite believe in the magic of his predecessor.
Remember when our chief economist, David, asserted it was "voodo economics?"
Things are changing in Europe. This is real tangible progress.
ReplyDeleteFrom the BBC:
Swiss 'back tighter asylum laws'
"Illegal immigrants queuing
Asylum seekers will be expected to produce ID within 48 hours
Swiss voters have backed plans to make it harder for asylum-seekers to get into the country, projections indicate.
The government says the new legislation will reduce abuse of the asylum system, but the UN says it could lead to breaches of refugees' rights.
The laws would require asylum-seekers to have valid identity papers.
They would also cut welfare payments to those whose applications are rejected, and introduce up to two years detention for those awaiting deportation."
Then there is this
ReplyDelete"... CLINTON: What did I do? What did I do? I worked hard to try to kill him. I authorized a finding for the CIA to kill him. We contracted with people to kill him. I got closer to killing him than anybody has gotten since. And if I were still president, we'd have more than 20,000 troops there trying to kill him. ..."
Now, I've never criticized President Bush, and I don't think this is useful. But you know we do have a government that thinks Afghanistan is only one-seventh as important as Iraq. ..."
There is more to this tirade than meets the eye, initially. There is a lot of stuff between the lines, that FOX did not promote in the run up to the airing of the interview.
There is what 47 days, now?
I think what's Killin Bill is not so much the fiddle-farted responses to AQ, but that he knows history is going to show Monica, Bill, and OBL in an indelible porno-cartoon three-way for all eternity.
ReplyDeleteAs is Nero and his fiddle.
ReplyDeleteand he's the sucka, the john, paying up to pass diseases back and forth between the other two. history's shorthand.

ReplyDeleteAfghan President Calls for More Aid
And if OBL is a symbol, Monica is no less a symbol--what was--is--wrong in America, the turning of freedom into license, of authority into celebrity 9and vice-versa).
ReplyDeleteIf Monica symbolizes an American disease, and OBL a world disease, then Bill triangulates into some other sort of symbol, use yo imagination.
rat, Karzai sounds like Haley Barbour, referring to Louisiana.
ReplyDeleteThe latest NIE,as reported by the NYT, quotes numerous "unnamed sources" as saying that the war in Iraq has increased the global terrorist threat.
ReplyDeleteOf course this statement is absurd to anyone who lived through the last 30 years as an adult. Munich,Black September,Red Brigades,Black Panthers,Grey Wolves,Baader-Meinhof. The list is endless.
All the Iraq War did was exposed a suppurtating carbuncle of world terrorism. It would have had to have been faced by the civilized world at some point.
Go ahead, take a look at what we face outside of the AQ world.

geoffgo,
ReplyDeleteyes and how disappointing was "read my lips". Of course to put it in it's proper context one must remember that George H.W. had cut a deal with the Socialist Democrats on cutting spending.
As sson as his lips moved they reneged on the deal and had their campaign, "It's the Ecomony Stupid". Geo. H.W. got snookered by some lying bastards(but he should have known better, his breeding got the best of him)
David Stockman's Atlantic Monthly article just added fuel to the fire. Someone should have thrashed him.
Buddy,
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna get those "blue things" workin just as soon as I quite be'in lazy...
habu, that meme--perhaps the international left's most powerful--has an exact, and i mean exact, analog in every war ever fought.
ReplyDeleteFor recent and well-known example, Axis war production and recruitment, and number of men under arms, and fury of propaganda, all peaked in the last full year of the war, 1944.
Had we surrendered in 41, 42, or 43, all that huge surge in enemy capability would never have happened.
NYT and the left is engaged in bald sophistry. I'm sure the enemy is simply loving every iteration of it.
Here's habu's link
ReplyDeleteThe real solution is to have the government to use parts of the closed military bases for VOLUNTARY cannibus,LSD,mushroom (hey Willie come on in)and other drug experiments that the boomers want to try.
ReplyDeleteTo make them feel good 60's music is piped in as well as sandals and viagra, and we would call them 'Communes". In return their Social Security stipend is reduced.
As they OD on the shit the goverment harvests the good organs or whatever is good and sells it, or uses it for medical experiments..I mean most of these were Madaline Murray O'Hare believers anyway.
This method will also reduce the Social Security ponzi scheme burden more rapidly than expected and best of all, we would be doing it for the children.
You may be joking, but the communes would fill fast, i'd imagine. the opium derivatives would fix social security in a hurry, if well refined and free.
ReplyDeletenewed a PR campaign, too, so that signing in to the camp could be spun as a heroic act. "For the Children" is a good core message.
ReplyDelete"need", not "newed"--tho it IS an interesting typo (*blush*).
ReplyDeleteBuddy,
ReplyDeletemany thanks for the blue thing..
ALSO, you bet..I wasn't kidding.
I figure with as many "Boomers" so bereft of any savings, and looking to Social Security that to trade that for dope and beer and a return to the campus nirvana of the 60's atmosphere that literally millions would buy into it ..free clinics for intern DR. to practice medicine. They'd be in the government bosom they have so longed for...and with a good effort by the government to grow their own poppies and pot, Schrooms and whatever that the medical knowledge alone would be worth it. Also by growing our own we could deal a harsh blow (no pun intended) to the cartels, AND hemp is a very strong and wonderful clothing and rope material.
Also with the proper release papers signed we could get Rufus in on some rotting corpse methane recovery..."Power from the People"
Personally I can't think of anything in our society that trumps
ReplyDelete"LET'S DO IT FOR THE CHILDREN"
This is better than I thought. I have sensed that political correctness and multi-culturism was on the way out in Europe at the people level. Look at this from DW
ReplyDelete"Swiss voters backed tougher rules for asylum seekers and fine-tuned immigration legislation in a national referendum Sunday.
Almost 70 percent of Swiss voters backed moves making it easier to send rejected asylum seekers home, as well as lengthen periods of detention for potential deportees and cut financial aid to people whose claims are turned down.
The same percentage approved new immigration legislation that aims to overcome what supporters say is a lack of integration of many legally resident foreigners in Swiss society."
"Power From the People!"
ReplyDeleteYeah, man!
The guy in this blue thing got nuffin on habu!
But then the Swiss have never really been "PC"...they are required to maintain a rifle at home.
ReplyDeleteContinuing the theme of Elder Hippie Communes, we could employ (once again out of the SS stipends of the hipppies) many legal immigrants to clean the communes, food service, hemp clothing loom teaching and hookah filling duties.
ReplyDeleteIllegals could also gain citizenship "points" by working on upkeep and repair as well as learning English from the elders.
It's WIN-WIN for those who sign up. I mean we have plenty of closed military bases and they all have fences around them.
Come on people shine on your brother eveybody get together and love one another right now.

And the reaction was identical to before when he got caught with his fingers and other objects in the cookie jar.

Habu,
Exactly!
The look said it all, and all they've done since is polish their act.
Actually, Hillary has and Bill hasn't, since he's had a free ride since and doesn't need to.
Good thing for him too, since maybe he CAN'T.
He'll never know, never be tested, thus the anger.
"... WALLACE: And the White House, the Republicans want to make the American people afraid?
ReplyDeleteCLINTON: Of course they do. Of course they do. They want us to be — they want another homeland security deal. And they want to make it about — not about Iraq but about some other security issue, where, if we disagree with them, we are, by definition, imperiling the security of the country.
And it's a big load of hooey. We've got nine Iraq war veterans running for the House seats. We've got President Reagan's secretary of the navy as the Democratic candidate for the Senate in Virginia. A three-star admiral, who was on my National Security Council staff, who also fought terror, by the way, is running for the seat of Kurt Weldon in Pennsylvania.
We've got a huge military presence here in this campaign. And we just can't let them have some rhetorical device that puts us in a box we don't belong in.
That's their job. Their job is to beat us. I like that about Rove. But our job is not to let them get away with it. And if they don't, then we'll do fine.
WALLACE: Mr. President, thank you for one of the more unusual interviews.
CLINTON: Thanks. ..."

ReplyDeleteMr Clinton did this on FOX for a purpose, he didn't become "slick" with out reason.
ReplyDeleteABC, folks, they were not stabbing Bill in the back, with that show. No, they placed him back in the headlines, above the fold.
The Dems only need 1 or 2 in a hundred to think he's right, when before, they were not sure.
Why not Afghanistan?
Peggy Noonan, buddy, on that FOX / WSJ show, said that would be the Dems move. Attack the management of the War, not the Goals.
The ball was fumbled on the way to the Goal, according to the storyline.
By individual Districts bet it's Dems +13 seats. Same as Beltway Boys, Mort and Fred had the Dems up as few as 12 as many 16.

HH: On this program, Christopher Hitchens, Vanity Fair writer, has asserted that on the morning of 9/11, George Tenet, upon learning of the attacks, said I hope it wasn’t the guys in the flight school. Do you credit that? Or is that apocryphal?
ReplyDeleteLW: Hugh, I don’t know how far up the chain the information about these two al Qaeda hijackers went. Certainly, there were people that were in the top of Alec Station, not Mike Scheuer…
HH: You’ve got to explain what Alec Station is to people.
LW: Alec Station was the virtual bin Laden station, that was recently abandoned. But it was create…it was to pursue and find bin Laden, set up in 1996. And there were people there that knew because of the following of the Malaysian meeting, and the participants there, they knew that these people had come into the U.S. I don’t know how far it passed up. I could not get cooperation from the CIA to talk to the people that were involved.
HH: Would George Tenet cooperate with you?
LW: No.

LW: Yeah, you’re absolutely right. He was not…he’s certainly not a charismatic leader. But he did have a talent for organizing men around him. And when he met bin Laden, you know, sometimes, I think it must have been like Colonel Parker spotting Elvis for the first time. He thought, you know, I can do something with this kid. Here was this wealthy, charismatic, young Saudi who had a dream, which was, at the time, he wanted to create a Muslim, an Arab foreign legion, something that could go anywhere and fight for Muslim causes. And mainly, he was an anti-communist organization at the time.

The rally north of Beirut came just two days after a massive gathering by the rival Shiite Muslim Hezbollah that attracted hundreds of thousands. The two sides have been at sharp odds over the future of the Lebanese government since this summer's Israeli-Hezbollah war.
ReplyDeleteHere we go all over again with Nasrallah:
ReplyDeleteLike Sadr, he should have disappeared already.
Bodine was of a cut with April Glasby, who had accidentally signalled Saddam he could "do" Kuwait.
ReplyDeleterufus, that Beirut demo was mostly Christians--and if you saw the pix, the people were dressed as if for church. Very elegant looking people. They look a little longer outta the trees than the Hez crowds.
Geagea, who backs Hezbollah's disarmament, implicitly accused the Iranian- and Syrian-backed group of running "a state within a state" in south Lebanon.
ReplyDelete"How can a state be established while there is a mini-state (within its borders)? How can this state be established while every day arms and ammunitions are smuggled (to Hezbollah) under its (the state's) nose?" he said.
Nasrallah vowed at a massive rally Friday in Beirut's southern suburbs not to disarm despite international pressure. Some 800,000 Hezbollah supporters cheered Nasrallah at the gathering to celebrate what Hezbollah called "a divine victory" against Israel in the 34-day war that ended on Aug. 14.
In his speech, Nasrallah also called for the formation of a new government, repeatedly attacking Saniora's administration, which he called weak and unable to protect Lebanon from Israel.
Hezbollah's push for a stronger political role could deepen tensions in a country already sharply divided over the war.
"The Guardian said that the US government had a plan for a government of 23 ministries, each one headed by an American, to rule Iraq. Each ministry would have four Iraqi advisers. The head of this government would be Jay Garner, a retired US army general who is a fanatical Zionist - hardly the sort of person whom the Iraqi people would choose to rule them by any democratic process. According to The Guardian, the composition of this government had been decided by US government officials, particularly the ZionistDeputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz: "The most controversial of Mr. Wolfowitz's proposed appointees is Ahmad Chalabi, the head of the opposition Iraqi National Congres, together with his close associates, including his nephew… Chalabi … has become the Pentagon's darling among the Iraqi opposition. The Defense Secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, is one of his strongest supporters. The State Department and the CIA, on the other hand, regard him with deep suspicion"

ReplyDeleteI'll go see what Prof Landis is up to.
Assad: Ms. Rice didn’t thank us for our policies, only for our response to the attack. But this attack happened precisely because of American policies in our region.
ReplyDeleteSPIEGEL: Why should the Americans be at fault?
Assad: Because they contribute to hopelessness in our country, and to silencing the dialogue between cultures. And then there is the condescending language — the expression “islamofascism,” which President Bush used, is a prime example. The pope’s recent comments are also part of it. Such statements complicate the situation and create this need for revenge.

ReplyDeleteWhat do you think of the German military mission in the Middle East?
ReplyDeleteAssad: That depends on the mission. Germany is supposed to prevent weapons from reaching Hezbollah. History teaches us that nobody can prevent a resistance group from arming when it has the support of the people.
SPIEGEL: Mission Impossible for the German navy?
Assad: As long as the public support for Hezbollah remains as high as it is today, yes, it is a Mission Impossible. The majority here sees the resistance against Israel as legitimate. I would advise the Europeans: Don’t waste your time, address the roots of the problem…….(Continued)

The US cannot secure it's own southern frontier from a high traffic count of illicit border crossings.
ReplyDeleteHow can anyone expect some understrength UN force to achieve in Lebanon what the US has failed to achieve in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Cross Border Security.
No, it's impossible--it's the Ho Chi Minh trail all over again. Too many eyes watching for the openings, too many willing hands, too many weapons break-downable to mule-handy.
ReplyDeletea border has a chance, with like-minded guards on *both* sides.
ReplyDeleteI am with you there rat and it has become quite apparent to Europe the limitations to US miltary power. We can fight huge apocalyptic wars but seem incapable of doing manpower intensive excercises like defending our own southern border. This bothers the Europeans and alarms them because they have such an inflexible military posture. The Europeans do not want to see a weakened US. They are having a tough time getting 2500 additional troopd to Afghanistan. I know a lot of you will say tough shit, but we have to get past that and do something fast about our miltary strength.
ReplyDeleteOur reduced capabilities are becoming apparent to some of our client states as well. It is ashame that it is happening at a time when there is a detectable growing boldness in Europe in dealing with the Muslims. The Egyptians, recipients of much US aid, have banned the distribution of the French newspaper Le Figaro and the German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung because it says they publish articles which insult the Muslim faith.
The Egyptian Information Ministry banned the newspapers for including opinion pieces which said that "the Islamic religion was spread by the sword" and that Muhammad was "the prophet of evil." The ministry said it would not allow publications which insulted the Islamic religion to be distributed inside Egypt. I fear the costs of the ill-conceived aftermath of the Iraq war will be tabulated for a very long time.
It was the Force party Christians who demonstrated today. I guess they are split off from the Maronites on the question of the duality of Hez and Lebanon.

Geraghty's relaxed and readable style as he brings to life the history that led up to and followed 9/11 will have readers who
ReplyDeletethought they knew recent history poring through
the book to find out what happens (more
accurately, "what happened") next. The author's
remarkable access to GOP operatives working
behind the scenes during the 2004 election gives
his book an undeniable air of authority.
Geraghty's central premise, that Democrats as a party have grossly underestimated the transformative effects of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, was borne out in 2004, when Geraghty went against conventional wisdom to predict a Bush victory on his blog, TKS, and again, with the recent purge of Joe Lieberman. He explains the rise of the left-wing fringe, its struggle with Democratic moderates, and its potential to devastate the Democratic party, making it an electoral loser for years to come.
If there's a weakness in "Voting to Kill", it's
that Geraghty is too quick to ring down the era
of mainstream media influence, and usher in the
Day of the Blog.
I've broke laws before, I'm sure I'll break some again.

No, i can't see it either, rat. But, what I can't see even more is the me 6 years ago that would've rolled on the floor laughing at the idea of a 21st century religious world war.
ReplyDeleteDR,
ReplyDeleteyeah it wouldn't be pretty, we'd end up in a huge guerrilla war. but i've been a supporter of the Bill of Rights etc and if they were "modified " out of existence I would have no choice.
The Founding fathers used very plain language and Farrands notes on the Convention are very clear on the intent of each branch and the rights we each personally possess.
We had Civil War I, so why not Civil War II?
As King Leonidas said to Xerxes I at the Battle of Thermoylae when told by Xerxes that Leonidas men would be spared if they laid down their arms and surrendered, Leonidas responded, Molon Labe...."Come and take them!"
Abracadabra in Turtle Bay
ReplyDeleteTerrormaster in National Cathedral
Michael Moore at the Convention
CAIR in the White House
...on and on.

read rat's link and boil awhile. how come the shitheads always work process so well?
ReplyDeleteSome 800,000 Hezbollah supporters cheered Nasrallah at the gathering to celebrate what Hezbollah called "a divine victory" against Israel in the 34-day war that ended on Aug. 14.
ReplyDeleteWe should offer the Iranians one of these "divine victories" or two.
Doug @ 6:25:59 PM
ReplyDeletehiss'n again?
Yeah, buddy, they had a lot of folk believing in the end of history, at the end of the 20th Century.
ReplyDeleteBut with the fall of the Ottomans the Europeans reoccupied the Levant. I've never understood why it wouldn't be considered the newest "Crusade". After a few hundred years of Ottoman dominance.
The occupations were, without doubt, of a regilous nature.
Jews in Israel and Catholics in Lebanon.
Just to PC to admit what is obvious to the Enemy. This rejection of their percieved reality has to be admitted, prior to winning a single Jihadist mind.
History never sleeps, a lot like rust
I mean after all the country was founded by revolution against an established authority. Revolutionaries all.. Washington,Franklin,Hamilton,Jay and on and on.
ReplyDeleteLeonidas' words bring to mind the "Come and Take It" cannon.
ReplyDeleteMatt,
ReplyDeleteThey don't call him flat-tire Larsen for nuthin.
2164, that's why 20 carrier carriers and a Roman Tax on the Seas might be where we end up in 20 or 50 years. Leave the land to the warring tribes, but keep the sea lanes open, and CHARGE for it.
ReplyDeleteSince no one besides the USA has had carriers since Halsey sank Ozawa's piss-poor remnants in October 1944 (except for a couple jump-jet transports the Brits and Frogs have), carriers have only been used against warring land tribes since that time. So what we do is go to a six carrier Navy and throw the dividend into a crash program of these slick new Zumwalt Class Destroyers that look like a Civil War ironcland and can hurl a round a second 54 miles away while they are being reloaded.
Buddy,
ReplyDeleteI read that link a few days ago. It fried me then.
As I've said before the fissures are growing in our culture beyond what a bit of spackle can repair.
Ask yourself. Do you feel represented or ruled? I'm sure a poll would show some very interesting results. I'd love to see the questioned asked.
Exactly, habu, which States will lead the revolt. Where is the Confederacy reborn, Alaska or Montana?
ReplyDeleteNot here in AZ, nor the Californication. More likely to become Atzland than the home of a Jeffersonnian revival.
Demographics being what they are.
Outside of the States, what tribes will open an insurrection upon the Land. Most of our tribes have been disbanded, culturally.
Vets?, look to the Dems, their ranks are full of vets. The conscription Armies of US past broke 50/50 like the rest of America.
Nine of the Dems House candidates are Iraq vets, so their thinking expands beyond those conscripted, but to volunteers and Carrier Force Commanders.
the new Virginia Class Attack Submarines are said to far-obsolete the terribly lethal Los Angeles class.
ReplyDeleteBuddy,
ReplyDeleteEither someone knew there history or there is a thread in human freedom that defies dictators.
The coincidence is amazing.
I really hate to see the military getting politicized. That way lie banana republics.
ReplyDeleteCaught that, didja, habu? almost like there's an unseen system somewhere.

Sorry. Left out Tehran, and I'm sure many others.
The Texicans knew their history, and a thread of rebellion runs through humanity.
ReplyDeleteOf course, no unseen system would've allowed some historian to name this boat.
ReplyDeletenot to jinx the boat--it can maybe redeem those letters of alphabet.
ReplyDelete"... On April 8, 1998, Secretary of the Navy John H. Dalton, also a former submariner, officially announced his decision to name the third and final submarine of the SEAWOLF-class for former President James Earl "Jimmy" Carter, Jr., the only U.S. President ever to Qualify-in-Submarines. The naming of the submarine USS JIMMY CARTER (SSN-23) followed the recommendation of military historian Mr. Mark J. Denger, who was at that time the President of the Los Angeles - Pasadena Base, United States Submarine Veterans Inc.
ReplyDeleteSecretary Dalton was joined by Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Jay Johnson who presented this honor to President and Mrs. Carter at a naming ceremony for this vessel on April 27, 1998 at the Pentagon. "You probably thought at the time, Mr. President, that USS SEAWOLF (SSN-575) would be your last submarine." said Dalton, "I am honored to dispel that thought, with a new and improved SEAWOLF, named USS JIMMY CARTER." During the ceremony the Secretary and CNO unveiled a model of the submarine JIMMY CARTER and presented a desktop version to the President. President Carter accepted the honor by saying: "If I had a choice between a submarine and an airport, I would choose a submarine." ..."
"the new Virginia Class Attack"
ReplyDeleteDo the Chicoms have the plans for those too?
DR,
ReplyDeleteit'll be a guerrilla war. Just like Iraq, Vietnam, etc. Their won't be a declaration of secession, it will be more spontaneous. The communications are no problem and areas could easily be taken and held. You'd have plenty of vets fighting on both sides but my bet is the revolutionaries would have the bulk.
You'd have defections in critical areas such as FBI,CIA etc..leaders would emerge.
I'm not saying it will ever happen but if the Constitution becomes like play dough and the Bill of Rights is distorted beyond whats already taking place with it within the left and you've got a bad situation that will not be tolerated.
redaktør,
ReplyDeleteI'll get right on that:
Buddy, we need 50 rebuilt Sitzpinkler Sprinklers from the French Quarter, You hear?
Doug, why don't you ask Chris Wallace to ask Bill Clinton?
ReplyDelete(the answer is "yes"--but probably not up to USN par)
"If I had a choice between a submarine and an airport, I would choose a submarine." ..."
ReplyDelete---
He probably believes he could make a submarine fly.
mon cher Doug, I only grew up there, I deed not "take on zee airz"
ReplyDeleteThe French felt pretty good about the tidiness of their well established society right up to 1789.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm sure a chap like George Soros would love to fund some organizations beyond those on the radio. Then you've got Chinese and Russian funding and organization.....a revolution is always right around the corner...especially today.
need a catalyst. Florida 2000 wasn't enough, in 2000. the threshhold, in an ownership society, is very high. Home-owners need a close threat. easily whacked over time (thousand cuts), tho, for the same reason--"property values".
ReplyDeleteWhich of course is precisely why those 1789 "sans culottes" had such contempt for the Boo Jwah Zee.
ReplyDeleteno, i can't, and you can't spell it, either
ReplyDeleteThe message here is really an open one to the Socialist Democrats.
ReplyDeleteIf you screw around with our republic like you'd like to do then you're playing a very serious game.
Many of us will not go gently into the night.

ReplyDeleteThree coequal branches of governemnt?
Early on Madison vs. Marbury established judicial review, never mentioned in the Constitution and thus destroyed the coequal branch theory.
Separation of church and state..a product of a letter from Thomas Jefferson to a religious group in Waterbury Conn. Never mentioned in the Constitution.
On and on.
wonder how many doors the DNC knocked on to get those fellers?
ReplyDeleteSome here actually won't discuss certain issues as being too provocative.
ReplyDeleteSo much for the defense of free speech.
Judicial review is oft emplyed at the state level--as a threat against home-town judges.
ReplyDeleteYou think your case has a biased judge, you can appeal to the state supreme court.
ReplyDeleteBut as I asked earlier,
ReplyDeleteDo you feel ruled or represented?
Rufus,
ReplyDeleteThat's really a very low threshold.
What about the Bill of Rights?
They not worthy of defense?
ok, tomato topic ..

ReplyDeleteGo placidly amid the noise and haste,
ReplyDeleteand remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.
" And finally to you, the graduating class of Harvard, I say.
ReplyDeleteDo not think the world lacks challenges worthy of your talents and intellect. My generation has left many toils to be undertaken, many questions yet to be anwered.
Who, I ask, put the boop in the boop shu boop shu boop?
Who, I ask, put the ram in the ram-a-lam-a-ding-dong?
So go forth and enlighten the world"
Thank you.
..and whether it be boop or bop it still has a vowel sound.
ReplyDeletethat was the Desiderata, here is the Deteriorata:
ReplyDeleteGo placidly
Amid the noise and waste.
And remember what comfort there may be
In owning a piece thereof.
Avoid quiet and passive persons
Unless you are in need of sleep.
Ro-tate your tires.
Speak glowingly of those greater than yourself
And heed well their advice,
Even though they be turkeys.
Know what to kiss.....and when!
Consider that two wrongs never make a right
But that THREE.........do.
Wherever possible, put people on hold.
Be comforted that in the face of all aridity and disillusionment
And despite the changing fortunes of time,
There is always a big future in computer main-te-nance.
Chorus
You are a fluke
Of the universe.
You have no right to be here.
And whether you can hear it or not
The universe is laughing behind your back.
Remember the Pueblo.
Strive at all times to bend, fold, spindle and mu-ti-late.
Know yourself.
If you need help, call the FBI.
Exercise caution in your daily affairs,
Especially with those persons closest to you.
That lemon on your left, for instance.
Be assured that a walk through the ocean of most souls
Would scarcely get your feet wet.
Fall not in love therefore;
It will stick to your face.
Gracefully surrender the things of youth:
The birds, clean air, tuna, Taiwan
And let not the sands of time
Get in your lunch.
Hire people with hooks.
For a good time call 606-4311;
Ask for "Ken."
Take heart amid the deepening gloom
That your dog is finally getting enough cheese.
And reflect that whatever misfortune may be your lot
It could only be worse in Milwaukee.
Chorus
You are a fluke
Of the universe.
You have no right to be here.
And whether you can hear it or not
The universe is laughing behind your back.
Therefore, make peace with your god
Whatever you conceive him to be---
Hairy thunderer, or cosmic muffin.
With all its hopes, dreams, promises and urban renewal
The world continues to deteriorate.
GIVE UP!
Reprise
You are a fluke
Of the universe.
You have no right to be here.
And whether you can hear it or not
The universe is laughing behind your back.
The self-confidence of the warrior is not the self-confidence of the average man. The average man seeks certainty in the eyes of the onlooker and calls that self-confidence. The warrior seeks impeccability in his own eyes and calls that humbleness. The average man is hooked to his fellow men, while the warrior is hooked only to infinity.
ReplyDeleteGlad to help, rufus
ReplyDeletehabu, that is actually pretty profound.
