“Undoubtedly, philosophers are in the right whe....

“Undoubtedly, philosophers are in the right when they tell us that nothing is great or little otherwise than by comparison.”

Perhaps, that's true.

For instance, the population of Michigan is about 9.9 million. The population of Israel is about 8.2 million. The median per capita income in Michigan $48,273. The median per capita income of Israel is $7847.

Perhaps not surprisingly, the number of individuals receiving foodstamps in Michigan at 1.679 million almost exactly matches the 17% percent or 1.68 million currently designated as in poverty. When it comes to education, Michigan has about 1.56 million students in K-12.
As can be seen, Michigan has more people in poverty and receiving food stamps than they have students in K-12.

Recent articles have indicated Israel has the highest poverty rate of all OECD countries, a little over 20% as I recall. Based on the population, that would put about 1.6 million Israelis in poverty. Israel has about 1.1 million in K-12. Not sure if Israel offers food stamps but as can be seen, Israel also has more people in poverty than in K-12.

... but, hey, no problems...

.Quirkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00272168240606512672noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21297199.post-79366629483999518652014-12-31T00:11:30.534-05:002014-12-31T00:11:30.534-05:00They don't stone women to death.........

But nothing...Iran Fighting For Civilization File -

But nothing underscores the Iranian regime’s imperialistic, hegemonic nature more than its support for the Assad regime in Damascus. Without Iran’s assistance, Assad would have fallen a long time ago. The death toll in Syria is more than 200,000; half of Syria's population has been displaced. These dark achievements of the Assad regime would not have been possible without Iran. Thousands of Hezbollah and Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps troops and advisers, plus Iranian weaponry, have made all the difference for Assad. As a recent study by the Middle East Institute states:

It is no longer accurate to describe the war in Syria as a conflict between Syrian rebels on the one hand and Bashar al-Assad's regime forces “supported” by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRG), Hezbollah, and Iraqi militias on the other. Most major battles in Syria—along the frontlines of regime-held areas—are now being directed and fought by the IRG and Hezbollah, along with other non-Syrian Shi‘i militias, with Assad forces in a supportive or secondary role. ...

One result of this heavy Iranian involvement in the war in Syria has been a change in the nature of the relationship between the Syrian and the Iranian regimes. From historically being mutually beneficial allies, the Iranian regime is now effectively the dominant force in regime-held areas of Syria, and can thus be legally considered an “occupying force,” with the responsibilities that accompany such a role....

Iran Is Getting Away With Murder
Achieving a nuclear deal with Tehran is hugely important. But stopping Iran from slaughtering innocent Syrians is a worthy goal.
Jeffrey Goldberg Dec 30 2014, 11:07 AM ET

http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2014/12/iran-getting-away-with-murder/384095/
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07877200182060537865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21297199.post-34475720927213615732014-12-30T23:43:02.332-05:002014-12-30T23:43:02.332-05:00You have to be terribly invested in a Daesh victor...You have to be terribly invested in a Daesh victory not to see what a mess they're in.Rufus IIhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05297231055991566183noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21297199.post-50345870340816636052014-12-30T23:22:12.040-05:002014-12-30T23:22:12.040-05:00No one probably noticed but me, but one day Genera...No one probably noticed but me, but one day General 'rat' Crapper had me wanting to reintroduce US troops into SunniLand to take out ISIS and being a warmonger, and the next he had me wishing for an ISIS victory.

Neither is correct.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07877200182060537865noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-21297199.post-18456494152614687022014-12-30T23:10:13.882-05:002014-12-30T23:10:13.882-05:00QuirkTue Dec 30, 09:06:00 PM EST
