A shocking video shows a lone black man being shot by a line of white police officers more than 40 times in the United States.
Milton Hall was gunned down in a hail of 46 bullets, of which 14 hit the homeless, mentally ill 49-year-old.
Police in the town of Saginaw, near Detroit in Michigan started firing during a tense stand-off in a car park with Hall, who was holding a penknife at the time.
Horrified by-standers can be heard in the video asking: "Why did they have to shoot him so many times?"
Hall was killed in 2012 but the video of his death has only just been released. The incident began when Hall phoned police, alleging a confrontation in a convenience store.
His mother said Hall had worked previously with Rosa Parks - a famous heroine of the black civil rights movement.
When he was in his mid-twenties, his mental disability became apparent, she said.
Paying tribute to her son, Jewel Hall said: "For him to be shot at 46 times and hit 14 times by all white policemen, it really raised questions in my mind. How they circled him and assassinated him.
"One policeman, after he was on the ground, turned him over, handcuffed him, and put his foot on his back.
"His blood running down the street like water. And he wasn't a threat, I mean, he had a little pen knife. He had no idea that those policemen would do that to him," she told the American Civil Liberties Union.
Police defended shooting at Hall 46 times by claiming he was known to be violent, with a long history of contact with police.
The US department of Justice found the shooting of Hall was not intentional.
